There are times I
operate as Police Car Mobile. Although my vehicle number is 90, the
locals have dubbed it "Car 54," in honor of the 1960s television
comedy. If you look carefully, you might see the WB4POL J-pole on
the roof. since this photo was taken, the J-pole has been moved to
the left trunk lid.
Car 54 has the
city's 800 MHz trunked radio installed. It also has a Yaesu FT-857
all-band, all-mode radio installed. Of course, the 800 MHz radio has
to take precedence, but during those slow times, you might find me
on 20 meters calling "CQ, police car mobile."
